Our Leadership

With more than 20 years of experience as professional arborists, these guys turned their love of trees into a business designed around keeping trees healthy.

Hannes de Wet, Co-Owner

Born in South Africa, Hannes started Tree Worx, LLC prior to graduating from University of Tennessee Chattanooga with a degree in Entrepreneurship. Within two years, he was able to strike out on his own with Tree Worx on a full-time basis. Now 10 years into growing the business, Tree Worx has become Chattanooga’s premier tree service.

Hannes enjoys spending time with his wife Liz and their growing family. They welcomed their first son this year.

Duane Blomberg, Co-Owner

Duane gained his love for tree work at the age of 10, when his grandfather taught him to drive a skidder on the sites of his logging company. After finishing degrees in both auto and diesel mechanics from Chattanooga State, he took that engrained love of tree work and started his own tree care company in 2012, which merged with Tree Worx in 2021.

He is married to Whitney and they have one daughter, Ila James. If Duane isn’t in a tree, you can find him on the basketball court or spending time with his family.

FAQs

Have a tree-related question? We have the answer! Check out these FAQs to learn more about Tree Worx and our services.

Will the equipment ruin my lawn or damage my landscaping?

We work around all obstacles, such as retaining walls, fences, gazebos, and other important yard structures. Turf areas may temporarily show some wear and tear. Large branches and logs can sometimes leave dents or divots, particularly on soft ground. We rake and blow to remove debris, but some sawdust may remain through one or two mowing cycles.

What if phone or electrical lines run through the branches of the tree?

This does not prevent us from doing the removal. We routinely work with utility companies. For main pole-to-pole lines, we will request a clearance trim from the power company to make the tree safe for our workers. For service lines that run from pole-to-building, we will arrange a free “line drop” so that the wires are out of our way while we work.

Am I (or my insurance) responsible if any damage happens to my property or anyone else’s?

Absolutely not! We carry full insurance. If our work damages your home or property, or even your neighbor’s home or property, you will not be liable.

Will I be able to replant a tree in the same spot?

Maybe. Even after stump grinding, many roots are still in the ground. Replanting in the same spot is possible if you wait a few years for the woody roots to decompose, or if you hand-dig roots out of the ground.

Some landscapers use equipment to plant trees that make it easier to use the same spot. If you’re planting a tree on your own, a simpler solution is to plant 5-10 feet away from the location of the previous tree’s trunk.
